Endowments Funds
An Endowment Fund is a permanent fund established by a Foundation which accepts and professionally manages gifts of cash, stocks, bonds, and real estate. Only the income from the endowment is used to fund projects to enhance life in the Shelby Township community. Endowment funds, therefore, have a lasting effect in the community now and for future generations.
The funds presently held by the Shelby Community Foundation include:
- SCF Endowment Fund: The SCF Endowment Fund is the general operating fund. The income from this fund has financed projects such as the annual art fair award, the Shadbush 18th century cabin, or the library concert series. It is a wide-ranging, flexible fund.
- Scholarship Endowment Fund: The Scholarship Endowment Fund was created for the sole purpose of awarding college scholarships to deserving high school seniors from Shelby Township. Each year multiple scholarships are awarded using criteria in the areas of financial need, academic success, and community involvement.
- Healthy Futures Endowment Fund: The Healthy Futures Endowment Fund finances projects which enhance the lives of Shelby Township’s citizens, often focusing on its youth and senior members. Examples of programs it supports are the DARE program, the Senior Chore program, and the CPR program, among others.
- Jamie’s Smiles Endowment Fund: Jamie’s Smiles mission is to supply supplemental funding to outstanding programs that benefit children with special needs through grants and other financial means.
- Kiwanis Daybreakers Endowment Fund
- Detroit Sportsmen's Congress John A. Brown Endowment Fund
